How to order the Correct Size

All our garments are hand-cut and made specifically to order - you choose your fabric and colour, and we make the garments to your own measurements. This means that every item is a bespoke item (no two are ever the same!), and it is important to get the sizing right.

Some of our garments are more "fitted" than others, and sometimes the fabric has no `give' to it so can be very unforgiving if the garment is a little tight! We do try to warn you if this is the case so you know to be extra careful with your sizing.

We base our patterns on a set of "Standard" sizes which are shown in the chart below - please be aware that these do not match High Street sizes! You may find that you have to order one or two sizes bigger than your normal size - please do not be worried or shy about this - your details are strictly confidential and we won't tell anyone!

If you are in any way unsure as to which size will be best for you, let us have your measurements and we will make the most appropriate size for you. Just enter your measurements in the boxes below, and the click "Add to Shopping Cart".

Sometimes it helps to have an assistant (and makes it more fun!), but you can get most measurements yourself. When measuring, use a fabric tape-measure and do not pull it too tight - there are no heroics for cutting off your circulation to get a smaller measurement! Your Bust, or OverBust, measurement should be taken around the fullest part of your bust while wearing a bra or false bust (if you will be wearing one with the finished garment). Your Waist measurement is taken at about belly-button level or an inch higher, and your Hip measurement should be taken over the widest part of your hips and buttocks.

We base all our tops on a shoulder to waist measurement of 19 inches (or 15" for high-waisted styles) - please do check that this will be long enough for you, particularly if you are tall, or are ordering a very fitted dress.

People who bought this item also bought:
1. 0628 Satin Panties
2. 0536 Secretarial / School Blouse - in soft nylon
3. 0874 Victorian Cook

These are our standard pattern sizes - if you do not fit into these sizes exactly it is advisable to give your measurements to ensure a correct fit.

Fabric Colours

We carry a large range of fabrics in a good selection of colours.

Our standard colours for each fabric are listed here, and we try to maintain our stock of these colours at all times. New colours may become available from time to time - where a new colour is available it will be listed against each individual garment. Other colours may be available on request - please email us at sue@boutique.co.uk if you have any requests!

NOTE: These colours are for guidance only. Shades may vary between batches of fabric, plus editing pictures for the web and different computer monitors may also cause a slight change in the colour.. We therefore cannot guarantee an exact colour match - but these are a very good guide and are as accurate as we can make them!

Lace & Ribbon Colours

Oooh La La! All that lace !...but what colour should I choose?

We generally use white lace on all our garments. The only exceptions to this are garments made in red or black, where we will use black lace. Where we can, we will supply lace in different colours for a particular garment.

We try to keep these colours in stock all the time. Other colours may be available from time to time - individual garment listings detail the colours available.
